The specificity of modern times, which is reflected in the correlation of different aspects of life and coupled with each other stimuli progress, is without a doubt reflected in the development and shaping of cities. The past economic and political transformation in Poland and free-market reality, tend to transformations and changes in architecture as well. The requirement to meet current needs and competitiveness of cities entails the search for a new town- factors, attractiveness and innovative ways of planning the space, finding corelations and to reconcile the diverse and often different interests and expectations.

City Gryfino, inhabited by over 20 000 people, with a rich cultural and historical heritage is located in the western part of Western Pomerania, beside the Oder River, near the border with the Federal Republic of Germany. This location, combined with the internal potential of the city, is challenging and creates an opportunity to identify interesting directions for further development of the city. The main task of the workshop participants will be to discover, verbalize and visualize challenges and to identify development opportunities for Gryfino.

The purpose of the workshop GRYFINO CITY REVIVAL will be to design a development concept for riverside part of the city, which would form the basis for a new local development plan. An anticipated result of creative work is to create a waterfront that would meet the needs of the local community, reflect the aspirations of the modern, booming small city, while preserving and highlighting its historical and geographical value.

The expected result of the work is the concept of a modern town buildings, which is an important component and determinant of identity of the city, that renders the spirit of the times and the places of social and economic integration of the region, created in the context of existing conditions, including existing urban fabric. The project is likely to reflect the important role of architecture and urban planning in the creation of the character of the city, its visual perception and aesthetics and in particular, would highlight the added value that can make a rational use of space by stimulating investment demand, opening to new markets, creating socio-economic incentives, or building a position in the macro-environment.

An equally important element, which is the specificity of workshop location, is already mentioned almost cross-border location of Gryfino. In an era of increased European integration, developing and still deepening Polish-German relations in the field of economy, trade and services, as well as in the field of cultural, scientific and even artistic cooperation, there are new opportunities and possibilities for the city and region. Designers will have to take into account the assumptions of the development of economic and social planning.

The workshops are an opportunity for both Gryfino, as well as primarily for the participants who, through its active and creative participation will become part of the joint venture. The leading idea is the cooperation in the international environment of designers and thus the exchange of experiences which would allow for a fresh approach to the problems common to different parts of the continent. In the era of globalization and knowledge transfer in science and technology, a combination of intellectual contributions will create a synergistic, innovative project that meets modern trends and tasksfaced against the city.

We will work from 6th till 14th of October and we will create a joint work to present the results of our work to the community center and engage in discussion about its further development

GRYFINO - MIASTO NA GRANICY

 

Specyfika współczesnych czasów, której wyrazem jest korelacja różnych aspektów życia i sprzężonych ze sobą bodźców postępu, niewątpliwie znajduje swoje odbicie w rozwoju i kształtowaniu się miast. Miniona transformacja gospodarcza i polityczna Polski oraz wolnorynkowa rzeczywistość, skłaniają do przeobrażeń i zmian również w architekturze.   Wymóg sprostania aktualnym potrzebom i konkurencyjności miast pociąga za sobą konieczność poszukiwania nowych czynników miastotwórczych, atrakcyjności  i innowacyjnych sposobów planowania przestrzeni, odnajdywania wzajemnych relacji, a także pogodzenia różnorodnych, często odmiennych, interesów i oczekiwań.

 

Miasto Gryfino jest ponad dwudziestotysięcznym miastem, o bogatym dziedzictwie kulturowym i historycznym, położonym w zachodniej części Pomorza Zachodniego, nad rzeką Odrą, przy granicy z Republiką Federalną Niemiec. Taka lokalizacja, w połączeniu z wewnętrznym potencjałem miasta, stanowi wyzwanie i stwarza szansę na określenie interesujących kierunków dalszego rozwoju miasta. Głównym zadaniem uczestników warsztatów będzie postarają się odnalezienie, zwerbalizowanie i wizualizacja  wyzwań oraz określenie możliwości rozwojowych Gryfina.

 

Celem warsztatów GRYFINO CITY REVIVAL 2016   będzie zaprojektowanie koncepcji zabudowy nadrzecznej części miasta, która miałaby stanowić podstawę dla nowego miejscowego planu zagospodarowania przestrzennego. Zakładanym rezultatem pracy twórczej jest stworzenie waterfrontu, który sprostałby potrzebom lokalnej społeczności, odzwierciedlał aspiracje współczesnego, dynamicznie rozwijającego się małego miasta, przy jednoczesnym zachowaniu i uwypukleniu jego historycznych i geograficznych wartości. 

 

Oczekiwanym efektem pracy, jest koncepcja nowoczesnej zabudowy, będącej istotną składową i wyznacznikiem tożsamości miasta, oddającej ducha czasów, a także miejsca integracji społecznej i gospodarczej regionu, stworzonej w kontekście zastanych uwarunkowań, w tym istniejącej tkanki miejskiej. Projekt ma szanse odzwierciedlić doniosłą rolę architektury oraz urbanistyki w kreowaniu charakteru miejscowości, jej wizualnym odbiorze i estetyce, w szczególności zaś mógłby uwidocznić wartość dodaną, jaką może wnieść racjonalne zagospodarowanie przestrzeni  poprzez stymulowanie popytu inwestycyjnego, otwarcie na nowe rynki, tworzenie bodźców ekonomiczno-społecznych, czy budowanie pozycji w makrootoczeniu. 

 

Równie istotnym elementem, który stanowi o specyfice lokalizacji warsztatów jest, wspomniane już, niemal transgraniczne położenie Gryfina. W dobie wzmożonej integracji europejskiej, rozwiniętych i nadal zacieśniających się kontaktów polsko-niemieckich na polu gospodarki, w szczególności handlu i usług, a także w sferze współpracy kulturowej, naukowej, a nawet artystycznej, przed miastem i regionem otwierają się kolejne szanse i możliwości, które projektanci będą musieli uwzględnić w planowanych założeniach rozwoju gospodarczo-przestrzennego i społecznego.

 

Warsztaty stanowią szansę zarówno dla Gryfina, jak również przede wszystkim dla uczestników, którzy poprzez swój aktywny i twórczy udział  fizycznie staną się częścią wspólnego przedsięwzięcia. Wiodącą ideą jest kooperacja w międzynarodowym środowisku projektantów, a tym samym wymiana doświadczeń, pozwalająca na świeże podejście do problematyki wspólnej dla różnych części kontynentu. W dobie transferu wiedzy i globalizacji naukowo-technicznej, połączenie wniesionych wkładów intelektualnych, pozwoli na stworzenie synergicznego, innowacyjnego projektu, wychodzącego naprzeciw współczesnym trendom i zadaniom stawianym przed miastem.
